James Albert Obituary

James E. Albert, 85, of Latrobe, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at his home. Born Sept. 28, 1940, in Latrobe, he was the son of the late Jerome I. Albert and Phyllis (O'Brien) Albert. Jim was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe. For many years, he had volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Society and served as its treasurer. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at Kennametal. He was a member of AARP and enjoyed bowling and following Pittsburgh sports. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Leola L. (Swain) Albert, on Jan. 28, 2026. Jim is survived by one daughter, Lisa Marie Smith (Randy), of Murrysville; one son, James E. Albert Jr. (Brianne), of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Austin Baer (Kerri), Tristan Albert, and Brayden Albert; two step-grandchildren, Scott Smith and Jamie Clemente (Nick); one great-grandson, Atlas Cloud Baer; two step-great-grandchildren, Nora and Tate; and one brother, Donald Albert of North Carolina. At his request, there will be no public visitations or services. Private interment will be at Unity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Action for Animals, P.O. Box 814, Latrobe, PA 15650.
