James Albright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Aldous Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Wallingford on Mar. 25, 2026.
James Edward Albright Jr.

Wallingford-James Edward Albright Jr., lovingly known as "Jimbob" and "Grampy", 72, of Wallingford, Vermont, passed away on Monday, March 23.

He was born on February 22, 1954, in Stamford, Connecticut, the son of James E. Albright Sr. and Nancy (Ballou) Albright.

Jimbob married the love of his life, Gloria P. Caputo, on November 25, 1981. They shared 44 years of marriage built on unwavering devotion and deep love. Through life's joys and challenges- in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer-these vows were the foundation of their enduring partnership. The love they shared was truly one of a kind.

For many years, Jimbob worked as a manager for various database companies, including Reader's Digest and Eveready Battery. Eventually, he left the corporate world behind to follow his heart and support his wife's dream of owning a Vermont country store. In 2000, they moved their family to Pittsfield, Vermont, where they owned and operated the Pittsfield General Store for several years.

Jimbob was a dedicated "Deadhead" who found joy in music, especially the Grateful Dead. He loved skiing, spending time outdoors, riding his motorcycle, camping, and reminiscing about summers spent on his family's island in Casco Bay, Maine. He enjoyed sunbathing while listening to classic rock, attending concerts, watching sci-fi movies, and indulging in the occasional sweet treat. Above all, he cherished time with his family-whether watching nightly episodes of Jeopardy! with his son or spending time with his loyal companions, Hercules and Wally.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria, of Wallingford; his son, James E. Albright III of Wallingford; his daughters, Melissa Fraser (Dwane) of Plattsburgh, New York; Holly Beal (Bill) of Hensley, Arkansas; and Liz Burnham (Chris) of Wallingford, Vermont; six grandchildren, Christian, Anthony, Lyla, Hazel, Aubrey, and Eleanor; and his sister, Deborah Weil.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Carol Albright, who passed away in 2023.

"Fare you well, fare you well. I love you more than words can tell. Listen to the river sing sweet songs, To rock your soul."
