Mr. James Thurman Anderson went to his eternal home on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
James entered the United States Marine Corps in 1953 after graduating from Quitman High School in Quitman, Louisiana. He served his country for 21 years and was very proud of that accomplishment. Upon retirement, he worked for Harrell Builders Supply in Winnfield, Louisiana for 12 years. From 1984 – 2013 he owned and operated his own business in Dodson, called, The Corner Quick Stop. He and his wife Margaret operated the Quick Stop for 29 years. James was affectionately known to his childhood friends and family as "Bud." At Harrell Builders, he was called "Gunny," at the Quick Stop, he was Mr. Andy. His children called him Pop, but for all the rest he will always be remembered as "Papaw Andy."
James was preceded in death by his parents, Homer B. Anderson and Minnie Ida Robinson Anderson; wife, Margaret Caskey Anderson; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Boyett; siblings, Farris "Boots" Hickman (Robert), Shirley Juanita Davis, Kenneth Anderson (Lucille) and Wayne Anderson (Mary Jean).
Those left to treasure his memory include children, Randy Anderson, Rodney Anderson, Staci Anderson, Toby Boyett (Alpha), Mike Boyett (Lori), Tammy Boyett Brunson (James) and Brian Boyett (Laura); grandchildren, Jason Boyett, Chad Boyett, Josh Walker, Wesley Walker, Justin Boyett, Amanda Cox, Jamie Leigh Reitzell, Cade Brunson, Logan Brunson, Hunter Boyett, Courtland Boyett, Randall Anderson, Rickey Anderson, Christy Nunn, Renee Gleason, Debbie Hill, Lisa Ramundo, Megan Anderson, Alec Anderson and a host of great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Cypress Creek Cemetery with Rev. James T. Brunson officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
