James Milton "Jimmy" Anderson, 79 of LaRue, peacefully entered eternal rest on November 6, 2025, surrounded by his family at the Marion General Hospital.

Jimmy will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a cherished lifelong resident of LaRue.

Jimmy was a member of the second graduating class of Elgin High School in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and was deployed to Viet Nam where he earned the Purple Heart for wounds sustained during combat operations while serving with the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment.

Following his military service, Jimmy worked at Whirlpool Corporation in Marion for 45 years. Jim had also worked at the former MCIR, checking cars into the raceway. He was Commander of the Philipi-Clement American Legion Post #101 in LaRue for 19 yrs. Life member and past Commander of the DAV #46 in Kenton. Lifetime member of the Blackhorse Assn. Jim had also served LaRue as a Park Board member and on the Village Council.

It's an understatement to say that Jimmy was passionate about his hometown. As LaRue's historian, he was committed to cataloguing and preserving its heritage. His expertise on all things associated with the Oorang Airedale Dog Kennels and the Oorang Indians professional football team was unrivaled and widely recognized. Jimmy's knowledge and memorabilia were source materials for historic books, exhibits, and films produced by the NFL Hall of Fame, NFL Films, and various historians throughout the United States.

Jimmy's passion for history was surpassed only by love for his family. He is survived by his loving wife and constant companion of 58 years, Beverly "Bevy" (Madison) Anderson, they were married July 1, 1967 at the LaRue Baptist Church, their two daughters, Lisa Anderson of LaRue and Kim (Tim) Schorr of Chesapeake, Va., four grandsons, Bynon Davis-Anderson, Logan, Wyatt, and Reece Schorr, his brother, Otis (Joyce) Anderson of Dillon, Montana. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Lucille (Mitton) Anderson.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday November 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at the LaRue United Methodist Church. Pastor Douglas Thompson will officiate. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Private burial with Military Honors will take place in the LaRue Cemetery at a later date.
