James Anthony Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highland Park Funeral Home and Crematory on Jan. 9, 2026.
James Michael Anthony, born February 15, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas, was called home to meet our Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He passed peacefully at the NKC Hospice House in North Kansas City, Mo.
James was a proud graduate of Bishop Ward High School. In his spare time, he found joy in fishing and was a devoted fan of the KC Royals, KC Chiefs, and Kansas State football. He cherished simple moments, and the teams he loved brought him great happiness.
James dedicated 48 years of his life to the grocery business, a career defined by hard work, reliability, and genuine care for the people he served. Through decades of commitment, he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike. His strong work ethic and consistency were a source of pride for him and an example to those around him.
Above all, James was a devoted family man with a kind heart and steady presence. He was known for his warmth, quiet strength, and willingness to help others without hesitation. Those who knew him will remember his stories, his generosity, and the way he made people feel welcomed and valued.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lorene Anthony, and his brother, Ronald Anthony.
James is survived by his brother Kevin Anthony and wife Rhonda; sister in law Janice Anthony; and his nieces and nephews Heather Anthony, Lynn Collins (husband Buddy), Joe Anthony (husband John), Tim Anthony (wife Clare), Courtney Anthony, and Miranda Stimach (husband John); along with three great-nephews and one great-niece.
A memorial service and interment will be held inside the mausoleum on January 16th at 3:00 PM at Highland Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 4101 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
James will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.
