James T. Antonio, 98, formerly of East Washington Street, died Monday, September 15, 2025, at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle. He was born on September 26, 1926, the son of the late Eugene and Caroline (Izzo) Giovannantonio. James was married to the late June E. (Isabella) Antonio, who died on December 25, 2014. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Antonio worked for B & O Railroad as a car repairman for 20 years and then retired after 21 years from Rockwell Spring as a machinist. He was a member of the American Legion and Italian American Veterans; he enjoyed gardening and work outdoors.
He is survived by four children, Eugene D. Antonio of Panama City Beach, FL, James ‘Boe’ Antonio (Vicki DeCarbo) of New Castle, Maria J. Antonio (Jeffery Wagner) of New Castle, and Bernadette Reinhard (Carl) of New Castle, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one brother, Patsy Antonio of New Castle, and two sisters, Minnie Ranieri and Angeline Fiello of Chicago Heights, IL.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Anita R. Antonio, and two sisters, Ida Razzanno and Jennie Amabile.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Vitus Church. The funeral processional will leave the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Father Aaron Kriss will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
