James Armstrong Obituary

James “Rick” Armstrong, a prominent figure in the Nashville community, passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on January 28, 1953, in Dickson, Tennessee, Rick epitomized bravery, honor, and integrity throughout his career and personal life.

A dedicated Captain with the Metro Nashville Fire Department, Rick was greatly respected by his colleagues and the community he served. His time in service was marked by numerous contributions, and he took immense pride in working alongside the men and women of the Nashville Fire Department. Beyond the demands of his profession, he found joy in helping people, a dedication that resonated deeply with those around him.

Rick also served his country with honor in the Army, carrying the values learned during his military service into his civilian life. Outside of his professional achievements, he cherished spending time with his son, Ricki Austin Armstrong, and took great pride in witnessing his accomplishments. Rick had a passion for outdoor activities, relishing moments spent in nature, whether exploring Colorado or Wyoming, hunting, or simply enjoying time in his recliner at home.

His personality shone brightly through his sense of humor and friendship, traits that were cherished by those who knew him. He was influenced significantly by several key figures in his life, including his parents (Tom & Retta), Allen Rogers, Lonnie Garrett, Danny Wagonfield Alton Lewis, and Marion Dozier, whose memories will continue to endure among his family and friends.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Myra Jo Armstrong, and his son, Ricki Austin Armstrong. He is remembered not just for his professional accomplishments but for the love and warmth he brought to his family and friends.
