James Allen Ashley, 72, of Hampton Arkansas passed away on December 7, 2024, at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden Arkansas. He was born on June 7, 1952, to James W. and Freddie Bell Bush in Hampton Arkansas. He was a 1971 graduate of Hampton High School. Soon after graduation he married the love of his life Mae Zell Dismute on March 30, 1973, and four children were born Allison Ann Ashley, Chris Ashley, Darrel Ashley (Melissa) and Allison Denise Tucker (Reco).
He was employed at International Paper in Camden Arkansas for many years until its closure in 2001. He completed his working career at Arquest in 2011 with its closure. He was then able to enjoy his passion for fishing, hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first born daughter Allison Ann and two sisters, Ida Nell Harris and Mary Alice McElroy.
He is survived by his wife of 51years, Mae Zell; their three children, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Owens of Cincinnati OH, Jimmie Johnson (Pop) of Hampton, and cousin/sister, Carolyn Daugherty of Houston, TX; along with a host of Nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his love and memory.

Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024, from noon until 5:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home Van Buren in Camden Arkansas. Services will be Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Paul Baptist Church in Hampton Arkansas with Rev. Macon Patton, officiating and Rev. Reginald Alexander, Sr., eulogist.
