James Atkinson Obituary
Hartsville, S.C.
James Wesley (Jake) Atkinson, age 80 passed away December 25 while at MUSC Florence Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 at the Greater Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Holley will officiate. Burial will be in the Greater Heights Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Atkinson was born in Chesterfield a son of the late Johnny Wesley Atkinson and Carnell Gainey Long. Mr. Atkinson retired from Sonoco Products Company in the Cone Department after 38 years of service. He was a devoted husband Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Louise Floyd Atkinson, Hartsville; one son, Paul W. (Dawn) Atkinson, Kings Mountain, N.C.; one daughter, Angie Atkinson (Jeremy) Fesperman, Rockingham, N.C.; one sister, Mildred Courtney, Pageland; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Gardner and a brother, William Long.
