James (Bocki) Backner of Willseyville, NY, went home to be with the Lord at Robert Packer Hospital on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
Jim was born in December 1941 in Ithaca, NY where he was raised. Jim became an independent contractor in the 1970's and worked mainly for Therm, Incorporated up until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He loved to fish and his greatest hobby was creating knives in his spare time. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting and quiet times at his pond. A special thank you to Ralph Compton co-worker for 35+ years and true friend.
In addition to his wife Pegi of 46 years, Jim is survived by son Jamie Backner and daughter Cherie Clough. He is also survived by sister, Elizabeth Rinchack, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.
There will be a "Celebration of Life Memorial Service" for Jim later at a later date. Notification will be posted in the Ithaca Journal and Facebook with specifics as to the date, time and location.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kidney foundation.
