James Joseph Bahen, 81, of Carlton passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2025.

He was born Feb 1, 1944, to Joseph and Ellen Bahen. Jim graduated from Carlton High School class of 62 with honors. He excelled in football, basketball, and track. He completed a Business degree at the University of Minnesota. Jim was a hard worker all his life. He started working at Anderson dairy as a young boy in 6th grade and retired from Boldt construction. He enjoyed fishing and hunting trips with his father Joe and his son Jim. He loved going on vacations, Disneyland in California, Yellowstone in Wyoming, Wisconsin Dells, Boundary Waters and New York, Pennsylvania and Niagara Falls visiting relatives. He loved his grandsons dearly and was proud of all their accomplishments. Jim had a heart of gold and would always help people in need. He had Jesus in his heart.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Ellen Bahen, his three brothers Ronald, Joe, and Gary, and his son John Douglas Bahen. He is survived by his sons James Bahen Jr. (Kelly) and Matthew Bahen, grandsons Frank Bahen and Jesse Bahen, several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. Also, dear friends Ruth Wise Bahen and Steve Koecher. Jim was loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 6th at Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St, Cloquet, MN 55720. The visitation will begin at 11:30AM with the service at 12 Noon followed by a reception. Private Interment at Maple Grove Cemetery.
