James Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral & Cremation Services and Cemetery - North Olmsted on Jan. 22, 2026.
James "Jim" Bailey Jr., of Westlake, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Jim was recently diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer and was surrounded by his loving family and his beloved dog, Max, at the time of his passing.

Jim is survived by his devoted partner of 22 years, Kim Plumley; his two

sons, Christopher Hastings (Lea) and James Bailey III; and his mother, Shirley Bailey (Thomson). He was preceded in death by his father, James "Mick" Bailey Sr.

Jim was also a proud grandfather to Rebecca and Emily and a new great-grandfather to Elijah. He shared a strong and loving bond with Kim's children, Eric and Matthew Gerhart, whom he embraced as extended family.

Jim was a passionate singer and motorcycle enthusiast. He sang in many bands throughout his life and found great joy in music. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 211 Riders Group and the American Legion Sons of Veterans. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed bowling and spent many seasons on bowling teams, always chasing that perfect game.

Professionally, Jim was employed by Allumalloy Metal Casting, where he served as a Quality Manager since 2003.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 14 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at American Legion Post 211. This will be a potluck-style gathering to honor Jim's life and legacy. Donations in Jim's honor may be made to the American Legion Post 211 Riders Group. A motorcycle ride will be scheduled later in the spring, fulfilling Jim's wish for one last ride.
