James Larry Baker went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2025, following a long illness. He was born on January 24th, 1950, in Richmond, KY, to the late John Gilbert Baker and Anna Lee Story Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Russell Baker, and sisters, Rosie Lee Smith, Amelia Joyce Thompson, and Nancy Mae Redmon. He is survived by sisters Evelyn Marie Riddell and Brenda Sue Rose, and his brothers Mason Glenmore Baker (Shirley) and Ricky Dale Baker (Judy). He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own.
James proudly served his country as a United States Marine Corps veteran in Vietnam. He had a giving heart, a joyful spirit, and a witty personality. He loved his church and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, 2025 11:00am - 1:00pm at New Hope Fellowship Church in Nicholasville, KY, with funeral service to follow at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wesley Gorman, James Gorman, Brian Baker, Ted McCollum, Paul Ray Baker and David Rose.
