James Lee Batts, age 86, of Acy, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at 9:00 a.m. on December 24, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 15, 1939, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, James lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the time he spent with those he loved. He retired as an electrician with IBEW Local 995, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic. After retirement, James and his beloved wife, Jacqueline, fulfilled a lifelong dream of travel, visiting all 50 states and traveling around the world twice. Despite his many adventures, his greatest joy was always his family. He especially relished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
James is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Dana Batts; daughter-in-law, Lori Batts; grandchildren Brandi and Matt Roth, Nick and Margeaux Batts, Lane and Marissa Batts, and Hunter Batts; and great-grandchildren Rowan and Finn Roth, and Damian, Vivian, and Dorian Batts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Hicks Batts and Vivian Cannon Batts; his wife, Jacqueline Faye Lessard Batts; his son, Tim Batts; his brother and sister-in-law, Aaron Gaynell and Amanda Batts; and his brother-in-law, John Irving Lessard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, LA beginning at 8:00 am for family and 9:00 am for the public. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am. Entombment will follow at the church mausoleum.
Serving as pallbearers: Nick Batts, Lane Batts, Hunter Batts, Matt Roth, Chris Kelley, David Oubre, Rhyley Oubre, Benny Gregoire, and John "Stoney" Lessard.
James will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his dedication to family, his adventurous spirit, and the quiet strength he brought to all who knew him.
