James Harvey Beggs, Jr., was born on June 25, 1933 in Morgan County to James Harvey Sr., and Willie Mae Beggs. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles, and bird hunting. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Somerville, AL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Franklin "Buddy" and Melvin Beggs; wife Lurlene Beggs; daughter, Sharon Stringer; and granddaughter, Sandy Eagan.

He is survived by his sister, June Spurlin(Lawerence); son, Richard "Lanny" Beggs (Roxanne); daughter Patricia Barnes (Tim); grandchildren Andrea Maroney (John Wayne), Lesilie McClure(Jason) and Derek Stringer and great grandchildren Michael Eagan (Elizabeth), Brayden Jeffreys, Bentley Johnson, Easton & Maxon Maroney, Kendall McClure and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 3:00 PM on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Red Oak Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation is scheduled.
