James Belling Obituary

Belling - James Michael ("Jim") Sr., a beloved husband, father, and decorated police officer, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by his family. Born on July 5, 1943, James dedicated his life to his family and to serving as a distinguished detective in the Long Beach, NY Police Department. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Virginia Ruth Belling

(Mullin); and their three children, James Belling, Jr. (55) and his wife Christina, with children Emily (22), Gavin (19), and Caden (16); John

Belling (53) and his wife

Denise, with children Cole (20) and Olivia (18); and Christine Belling (50), married to Daniel Loiselle, with son Daniel James (DJ, 14). He is also survived by his brother, Walter Belling.

Jim was well known for coaching his kids' soccer teams, being a detective, watching and rooting on his favorite sports team, the Jets (sadly), and spending time with his many friends in the Long Beach Police community. Services private.
