James "Jim" Bryce Bender, 80, of Bentonville, passed away on August 21, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, surrounded by family. He was born June 7, 1944, in Rogers, the son of Ralph and Wilma Bender. James was a self-employed Masonry Contractor. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Rogers and served in the United States Army. Jim was an avid outdoor enthusiast, history buff, and craftsman. He enjoyed spending time with those he loved, spoiling his dog, and telling corny jokes. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sidney Kay Mullins Bender, and his brother, W.E. Bender.
He is survived by his two children, Niki Spitzer and Mike Bender (wife Cindy), his sister Janice Brust; and his grandchildren, BB, Kayla, Katie and Breanne.
Visitation will follow after a private military honors service from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2024, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Private interment is at the Rogers Cemetery, Rogers, Arkansas.
As Jim always said, the family asks for "a little time and a few kind words." In lieu of flowers, the family also asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association, Arkansas Chapter, in memory of Jim's wife, Sidney.
