James Edward Billiter

JAMES EDWARD BILLITER, 87 years of age of the Deel section of Vansant, VA, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center after a long battle. Born in Hardy, KY he was the son of the late Richard and Lorene (Duncan) Billiter. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Church of Christ Faith. He was a 1956 graduate of Grundy High School and a retired employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad having worked 42 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a soon to be great-great grandfather. He liked to bowl, watch western's, Chase Elliott, and the Washington Commanders.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Randy Lee Billiter, siblings: Robert Billiter, Janice Payne, Judy Shafer; mother and father-in-law: Bill and Virginia Dameron; brothers-in-law's: Keith Dameron, Darold Dameron, Bobby Hagerman, and Randy Boone.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years Shirley (Dameron) Billiter, Vansant, VA; daughter: Shelia (Steve) Ratliff, Blountville, TN; daughter-in-law: Wanda Billiter, Leemaster, VA; 4-grandchildren: Cody Billiter, Lori Ratliff, Katey Roadcap, Justin Ratliff; 8-great grandchildren: Kylie Billiter, Skylar Brown, Zoey Owens, Zander Ratliff, Zane Ratliff, Amoret Roadcap, Lennyn Roadcap and Killian Roadcap; and one great-great granddaughter on the way.
Also, survived by several nieces, nephews and his lifetime friend Hassell Boyd.
Visitation was Sunday evening at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for JAMES EDWARD BILLITER were conducted Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Arrington officiating. Burial followed in Greenhill's Memory Garden, Claypool Hill, VA.
Active Pallbearers were family and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers were Shelia Ratliff and Hassell Boyd.
