James Matthew Blaney, age 68, of Johnsburg, IL passed away on June 20, 2021, after a short illness and bravely fighting Parkinson's disease for many years. He was born on September 15, 1952 to James and Eileen (Paradis) Blaney in Oak Park, IL. On August 7, 1982, he was united in marriage to Cheryl [Kurtz] in Waukegan, IL. James is survived by his wife, Cheryl, and his three sons Patrick (Katie), Ryan (Vianey) and Sean, his four grandchildren Ryan Jr., Caleb, Clare & PJ., and his brother Larry (Connie) Blaney, his sister Sharon (Dan) Jezowit, and many loving nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kevin Blaney. James was an educator and leader in his career as Principal at St. Joseph's Elementary School in Waukegan, IL and as Quality Assurance Manager for SEKO Worldwide in Itasca, IL. He was a life long devout Catholic, and a principled and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was very active in his community and parish through St. John the Baptist Church, Knights of Columbus Council #9167, Boy Scout Troop #455, and soccer coach to many kids. Friends, colleagues, and neighbors are invited to visit with James' family from 3 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Rd., McHenry, IL. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10 A.M. on Friday June 25 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 Church St Johnsburg, IL. Inurnment in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree or contributing to these organizations to honor James' memory: Michael J. Fox Foundation or JDRF. Arrangements have been entrusted to Justen Funeral Home & Crematory. So sorry to hear of Jim´s passing to the next life.
I know Jim from years of attending a Catholic Men´s Bible study/discussion group in Johnsburg together.
Jim was a class act, his faith was real and lived. I can´t imaging baring the cross he did with the grace and kindness he displayed. Jim knew the score, he knew what was important in life. He loved his wife, family and Jesus. He knew many of the things he was losing control of were temporary and he would gain them back and so much more in the next life. Jim finished his race (this life). He was a faithful servant and is now enjoying the benefits of his race well run.
To Cheryl and his family I´m sorry for the loss and void you must endure. I pray you develop a special bond to Jim from the other side where one day we will all meet again.

When I first joined Sandra's Parkinson's physical therapy exercise group last fall I had to wonder, "Who's the happy looking guy, smile on his face and a milkshake in his hand on the weekly Skype call?" I appreciated him and he will be missed!
