James "Jamie" Edwin Blanks Jr.

July 6, 1966 – August 26, 2025

James "Jamie" Edwin Blanks Jr., 59, of Person County, passed away on August 26, 2025. Born on July 6, 1966, to James "Jimmy" Edwin Blanks Sr. and Carol Lee Talbert, Jamie lived a life rooted in service, loyalty, and love.

A proud graduate of NC State University, Jamie carried his Wolfpack pride throughout his life as a lifelong supporter of NC State Athletics. He retired with distinction on September 1, 2016, as Captain of the Technical Service Unit for the North Carolina State Troopers - a role that reflected his dedication to protecting and serving others.

Jamie was deeply involved in his community, a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, and served for many years as a Marshal for the Kyle Petty Charity Motorcycle Ride - an experience he held close to his heart. An avid golfer, he found joy on the greens and in time spent with friends and family.

Above all, Jamie was a great father, a loving brother, and a deeply proud grandfather. He is survived by his son, Daniel Blanks, and daughter-in-law Marissa Blanks of Tyner; his cherished granddaughters, Parker Rose and Teagan James Blanks - who lovingly knew him as "Papa J"; and his brothers, John Blanks and wife Michelle of Roxboro, and Craig Blanks and wife Danae of Southport.

Jamie will be remembered for his big heart, unwavering loyalty, and the deep bonds he formed with everyone fortunate enough to know him. His proudest role in life was being "Papa J" to Parker and Teagan - a title he wore with unmatched pride and joy.

Continuing his lifelong legacy of giving, Jamie was an organ donor - a final act of generosity that reflects the selfless way he lived his life.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the Burchwood Cemetery in Roxboro, North Carolina.

He leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and heartfelt connection.

Go Wolfpack.
