James Floyd Blount Jr, 73, of Hope Mills, NC died Monday, November 1, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. James was born to the late James F. Blount Sr. and Gladys Ray Blount on July 8, 1948 in Lumberbridge, NC. His family relocated to Parkton, NC where he attended school and met the love of his life Tressie Lee. The two were married on February 20, 1973 and made a life in Hope Mills, NC. God blessed the union of 49 years with happiness and love.
In 1979 James went to work for Kelly Spring Field Tire Company (Goodyear) and retired with a medical retirement after 29 years. He was known to all as one who never grew old, as he loved to joke and play, and he was always putting a smile on the face of those around him. He was a wonderful husband, father, and papa.
Along with his parents Mr. Blount was preceded in death by his brothers, William Blount, Jimmy Autry Blount and Joe Blount; his sisters, Annieruth Britt, Maryann Blount, Elizabeth Clark, and Lula Mae Smith; and a grandchild Logan Wienand.
Three days after his death his wife, Tressie Blount, joined James in their heavenly home.
James is survived by his sons, James Blount (Joy), of Hope Mills, NC and Ronnie Blount (Jocelyn), of Hope Mills, NC; his daughter, LeeAnna Wienand (Alan), of Hope Mills, NC; his sister, Nyoka Kersey (Donnie), of Parkton, NC; six grandchildren, Marianna Blount, Ashlee Blount, Calvin Blount, Rachel Blount, Alana Wienand, and Avery Wienand; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family members and friends.
A Visitation Service will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Crystal Springs Chapel located at 1400 Crystal Springs Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28306. Funeral Service will be conducted Thursday, November 11, 2021 11:00 AM at Crystal Springs Chapel with Pastor Bruce Suggs officiating. Interment will follow at Parkton Cemetery.
