James Boes Obituary

He was born January 5, 1944, in Pleasant Hill, IL, the son of Howard Theodore and Helen (Voshall) Boes.
He is survived by his only living relative, cousin, Janice Boes of Jacksonville; and several devoted friends including, Donna Grinkey and Daryll Grinkey (Dawnell Hubbert), all of Literberry, and the Jeff and Jamie Six Family of Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Boes was a 1966 graduate of Culver-Stockton College and went on to earn a master's degree from Sangamon State University in 1971. He served as a junior high teacher for Illini Central School District #189 in Mason City, IL for 33 years. He enjoyed reading and traveling, and especially loved spending summers in Vail, CO. Jim was also engaged in farming with the Six family. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Friday, August 29, 2025, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held 1:00 - 2:30 PM Friday prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences may be sent online at airsman-hires.com.
