James David Booth was born in Plant City, Florida on November 2, 1933 to Charles Monroe Booth, Sr., & Laurene Jones Booth. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1951 where he excelled in football until kidney disease ended his playing days. He attended Florida Southern, Emory University & graduated from his beloved Florida State University in 1957. Then he attended the University of Louisville Dental School, graduating in 1962. He moved to Orlando & began his dental practice until another illness forced him into early retirement. His motto was "If it hurts, I'll refer you!" & James was loved by his many patients, especially the children. James founded the Kiwanis Club of Azalea Park, was a Charter Elk's Lodge member, a member Emeritus of the Woehler Dental Research Group & a member & past President of the Orlando Touchdown Club. He also founded the Seminole Booster's Club in Orlando, was National Director of Alumni Affairs at FSU & personally knew every coach at Florida State up to & including Bobby Bowden. James' love of travel took him to 27 countries, but his favorite destination became Alaska. He & Jan visited that beautiful state every summer for 20 years & made lifelong memories. James was diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension in 2022 & passed peacefully at home under Vitas Hospice care from its complications. He fought long & hard & his was the perfect example of a life well lived. James was predeceased by his parents & brother, Charles Monroe Booth, Jr. and he is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Jan Booth, three nieces, two nephews, countless cousins, two stepchildren, four grandchildren & twelve great grandchildren who adored their "Uncle James". The family respectfully requests that any memorials be made in James' memory to Florida State University Football Program.
