James Oren "Jim" Borchart ObituaryBorchart, James O. age 88 of Chanhassen passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, August 13th at St. Hubert Catholic Community in Chanhassen, MN. There will be a gathering at 10:30 a.m., with Mass at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon following the service.
James "Jim" was born on July 21, 1937 in New Germany, MN, the son of Charles and Achsah "Betty" (Johnson) Borchart. On May 19th, 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Frances "Fran" Allenburg at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Excelsior, MN. Working with his father Charles, Jim transformed the farm and creamery where he grew up into Borchart Steel, an industrial salvage business that worked throughout the Midwest. Jim was the original recycler, finding a new home for everything from electric motors to entire buildings.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Achsah "Betty" Borchart. Sister Beverly McNeill, brother Charlie Borchart, brother John Borchart, sister June Rentschler, and sister Diane Snyker. Father-in law and mother-in-law Fred and Frances Allenburg.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Fran, their four children James Borchart (Julie Borchart), Kevin Borchart (Margaret Borchart), Greg Borchart, and Michelle Borchart (Taylor Pettis). Five grandchildren Spencer "Sierra" Borchart, Michael Borchart, William Borchart, Camden Pettis, and Beckham Pettis. Brother-in-law Jerry Snyker, and sister-in-law Mary Allenburg and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
