James Blake Boyd

Decatur ~ James Blake Boyd, 61, went to be with our Lord Sunday, January 7, 2024 in Denton, Texas.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Gerre Joiner & John Featherstone will officiate. Pallbearers include Raymond Wood, Brad Boyd, Brad Malone, Franklin Wood, Brodie Lambert, Marc McLeroy, Bryson Allen, and Jaxon Boyd.
Blake was born April 24, 1962 to Jackie Glenn and Virginia Rochelle (Garner) Boyd in Decatur, Texas. He was a retired teacher after many years in the education industry. Blake was an excellent piano player having played for many people in the community at various functions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie Boyd and Virginia Rochelle Smith.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his brothers, Rick Boyd and wife Faith of Saranac, New York, Jed Boyd and wife Laura of Decatur, and Joe Boyd and wife Brianne of Decatur; sisters, Connie Lambert and husband Randy of Grapevine, Ronda Boyd of Decatur, and Julie McLeroy and husband Bob of Commerce; 15 nieces and nephews, Brad Boyd, Cody Boyd, Caitlyn Waldron, Wesley Boyd, Brody Lambert, Brandy Malone, Brad Malone, Meredith Joyce, Marc McLeroy, Meghann Louvier, Codie Boyd, Camryn Boyd, Bryson Allen, Jaxon Boyd, and Kaydence Boyd; cousins, extended family members; and lifelong friend Janetta Wood.
