James R. Brawner Sr.

James R. Brawner, Sr., age 92, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Eternal Hope Hospice.

James was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 10, 1934. His parents, James Oscar Brawner and Lillian Chitwood Brawner, beloved wife, Margaret Louise Mealer Brawner, and granddaughter, Allyson Brawner, all preceded him in death.

James was a proud veteran of the United States Military. His service included 2 years in the Georgia National Guard (Rifleman), where he joined at 14 years old. And, 4 years in the United States Air Force (Supply Record Specialist). He was stationed in England when Queen Elizabeth was coronated and witnessed the procession through the streets of London.

James retired from Sears where he worked for 40 years. He met the love of his life there and married her. He and Margaret (Louise) were married for 48 years. She died one week after their anniversary.

James loved being outside. He loved to garden and work in his yard.

Those left to cherish James' memory include his children and their spouses, Randy Brawner (Allene), Brenda Webb (Barry), Ronnie Brawner, and Barbara Watson; grandchildren, Jessica Argo (Jason), Jennifer Coleman (Tyler), Joseph Hopkins, Chris Watson, Amanda Watson, and James Watson; and great-grandchildren, Camron Watson and Amelia Coleman.

Visitation with the family will be on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. The graveside service will be on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Burnt Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Jasper, Georgia.
