Jim was born in 1971 in Florissant, Missouri, the youngest of three children to Jack E. Brooks and Julie Rose (Papp) Brooks. After his family relocated to Tennessee, Jim graduated from Germantown High School in 1990 then earned his BS in electrical engineering from the Herff College of Engineering at the University of Memphis. In 2004, Jim married Suzie (Phillips) Brooks, sharing 20 happy years with their greatest joy together being their daughters, Abbey Elise Brooks and Zoe Lauren Brooks.
Jim will be remembered as kind, good natured, hard working, and most generous. He was foremost a man of strong faith and an active member of The Living Water Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by: his sister, Jennifer (Brooks) Thornton and her husband, Phillip, of Collierville, TN; his brother, Jeff Brooks and his wife, Elena, of Austin, TX; and his niece and three nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, April 21, at 10:00 am at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, with the Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 am. A livestream of the service can be viewed on the McMillan-Small Funeral Home's YouTube Channel found at www.msfh.net. Floral arrangements may be made through Flowers on the Coast at 843-361-7886.

I worked with Jim remotely over on the other side of the Atlantic. He was great to work with and always helpful, supportive and always in a positive mood. He was a very kind and gentle man and I am very saddened to learn of his passing.

Jim was a really helpful and calm person, everything I needed he provided. He always talked about how proud he was of his daughters and their love for all things nerdy. I know he loved his family and enjoyed the things he achieved for them. Rest in peace Jim!!

My deepest condolence to the Jim Brooks family, what a great guy what a great person extremely smart guy. He was my customer at FedEx, we called him the Cisco Guru!
Thoroughly enjoyed working with him, as a vendor to FedEx. Also, Jim and I kept in touch after he left FedEx. He was a good friend, rest in peace!

I am deeply saddened to learn about the loss of a great mentor and friend. Jim was not only a remarkable leader who brought out the best not just in me but to the whole team. His dedication and compassion were truly inspiring, and he will be missed dearly by everyone whose lives he has touched.
