Wintz & Ray Funeral Home And Crematory Service IncWith humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of James “Jimmy” Edmond Brown III, who died on July 1, 2025, at the age of 49.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.
Jimmy was born on January 25, 1976 in Beaufort, South Carolina and during his lifetime, he lived in Goose Creek, South Carolina; Iwakuni, Japan and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Jimmy’s most enjoyable hobby was fishing at Lewis & Clark Lake and the Missouri River. He was known to help anyone in need, from the smallest tasks to the more involved jobs. He also enjoyed woodworking, movies and a variety of music. His most treasured furry friend, was his bully pit named Babyjade.
He is survived by his sons: Austin Brown of Cross, South Carolina and Jeffrey Brown of Ashland, Kentucky; sister, Kangy Dickowof West Bloomfield, Michigan; uncles: Donnie Brown and Joseph Brown of West Virginia; step-brother, Josh Cassell and many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jimmy Edmond Brown and Margaret Gambrel; parents, James Edmond Brown, Jr. and Glenda (Grubbs) Brown.
