Life Reflection
James William Brown Jr. July 24, 1949 – January 21, 2025 James William Brown Jr was born July 24, 1949, to the late James William Brown Sr. and Lillian Brown in Mount Pleasant, SC. James was educated in the South Carolina school system he attended Jannie Moore Elementary, Lang High School and completed education in Job Corp. His spiritual development was influenced by attending Long Point Missionary Baptist Church. In 1974 he married his sweetheart and love of his life Lenora Amelia Stokely of which they were married 50 years. They demonstrated what true love is and living out the marriage vows. From this union they were blessed with two daughters and one son: Marquissa Renee, Janae Blondell and James III. James was employed for over 20 years Tompkins Rubber Company where he retired, then shortly thereafter, he wanted to pursue a career in culinary. He lived this career out serving as a head chef; employed by NBC 10 Philadelphia where he believed he had the honor of serving our local news anchors for several years of which they raved about his omelets and grits. James was an avid and skilled fisherman who enjoyed fishing and crabbing with his friends. He would light up talking about what he caught after all his fishing trips. James could also be found watching his westerns, fishing shows, and horror movies. From time to time you would catch him dancing, bar-b-queing too. James was like the mayor of the community, he knew everybody, he had a genuine care for the people he was surrounded by, he knew that the neighbors had his back, and he certainly had theirs. He didn't mind feeding those who were less fortunate and provided opportunities to for them to earn a couple of dollars (in his words), by running short errands for him or doing small repairs in the house. James was preceded in death by his wife Lenora Brown (babe), Mother Lillian Brown, sister Blondell Forrest, brother-in-law James Forrest, parental in-laws Harold and Velma Stokely, sons in law Steven Williams Sr. and Bernard Jones. He leaves behind his legacy, children Marquissa Williams, James Brown III (Nakeesha), Janae Brown and nephews Kevin and Freddy Forrest, nieces Carolyn and Lillian (Shelly)Forrest, Cousin Caroleitha.
