James Wilbert Brown, a beloved truck driver for the City of Dallas, left this world on January 2, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 17, 1948, in Axtell, Texas, James embodied the spirit of resilience and dedication throughout his life, navigating roads both big and small with kindness and a quiet strength.

As a proud member of the Dallas community, James was not just known for his role as a truck driver but celebrated for the gentle generosity that characterized his being. His personality was an endearing blend of calmness and warmth, making him a cherished friend and family member. Known to be quite laid back and courteous, he exuded a smooth presence in every conversation, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

James's life revolved around those he held dear, particularly his daughter, Lashell Jones, and his sons, Reginald Brown, Larry Easley, and Jamorrison Seaton. He took immense pride in his children, considering them among his proudest accomplishments along with his retirement from the City of Dallas and attaining home ownership. A devoted father, he will be remembered for the love and support he gave to each one of them, illustrating in every moment the values of gentleness and caring that he embraced.

Beyond his family, James derived joy from various hobbies, including the thrill of watching the Dallas Cowboys, engaging in games of pool, and immersing himself in the timeless allure of Western movies. His love for lawn care showcased not only his appreciation for nature but also reflected his nurturing spirit.

James's family will also remember the loving bonds he shared with his siblings, including his sisters Geraldine Lewis, Evelyn Brown, and Sheri White, along with his brothers Anthony Brown and Warren Brown. Each of these relationships contributed to his foundation and enriched his journey through life. He also carried with him the memory of his son, James W. Brown, Jr., whose absence will always be felt by those who loved him.

As we gather to honor and celebrate the life of James Wilbert Brown, we invite friends and family to pay their respects at two significant events. A viewing will take place on January 19, 2026, from noon to 6:00 PM and wake service beginning at 6pm to 7pm at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas. Following this, a funeral service will be held at the same location on January 20, 2026, starting at  11:00 AM and concluding at —a final tribute to a man whose legacy of love, generosity, and tranquility will forever echo in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.

James's passage has left a void in our lives, but his smooth demeanor and generous spirit will continue to inspire future generations. As we remember him, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering support for one another.
