He was preceded in death by his father, Horace V. Burks; brother, Terry Burks; nephew, TJ Burks; niece, Chelsea Smith as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
James is survived by his mother, Lois Hatfield: sister, Melanie Lowry and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Ewton Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Bro. David Burgess officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.
