James Douglas Campbell Sr.

Federalsburg, MD – James Douglas Campbell, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 100. Born on April 23, 1925, in Brunswick, Maryland, James lived a long and fulfilling life characterized by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Myrtle Campbell; his beloved wife, Mildred Campbell; his son, Philip Campbell; and nine siblings. Together, they built a family legacy grounded in strength, compassion, and integrity.
He is survived by his loving children: Linda Geise and her husband, George; Judy Musto and her husband, Jim; James "Jim" Campbell Jr. and his wife, Chris; and Tony Campbell and his wife, Teresa. His love and wisdom extend through his family tree to 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren, each holding a special piece of his heart.
James spent 30 years as a dedicated simulcast director, a career that perfectly aligned with his detail-oriented nature. A proud Marine, he served his country with honor and was a respected member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Federalsburg. He was the last remaining WWII Veteran in Caroline County.
Apart from his career and military service, James had a deep love for baseball and horse racing. His work for the Maryland Jockey Club for three decades demonstrated both his commitment and enthusiasm for the racing community.
A funeral service in celebration of James's life will be held at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Monday, March 23rd, 2026, at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Stallings Funeral Home on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
James's life was a testament to the values of loyalty, love, and community. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
