James Capone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by VanInwegen-Kenny Inc Funeral Home - Monticello on Feb. 1, 2026.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, James Capone, age 66, of Harris, New York. James was born on October 8, 1959 and transitioned into heaven on January 7, 2026. James was the son of the late Antoinette and James Capone of Mount Vernon, New York.

He leaves behind four siblings, Rosanne Capone, Giovanna Capone, Lisa Gagliardi, and Donald Capone. He lived a full life and was a free spirit. He spent his early years growing up in Mount Vernon. We all spent summers in the Catskill Mountains. This is where he later moved as an adult, spending many years in Harris, New York. He will live on through us and in the memories of everyone who knew him.

Jimmy loved classic cars and was a self-taught mechanic, carpenter, plumber, and electrician, able to restore anything in his path. One of his greatest pleasures in life was riding his Triumph motorcycle throughout the Catskill Mountains. He loved living in the country, surrounded by nature and animals. He loved cats and would often observe the wild deer grazing on his land. In addition to classic vehicles, Jimmy loved music, reading, old movies, rolling his own tobacco, and provolone cheese. His family requests, in lieu of flowers, to please make a contribution in Jimmy's name to the Catskill Animal Rescue in Ferndale, New York.

We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we remember him and celebrate his life. A private burial at our parents' gravesite in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, New York will be held, followed by a public Zoom gathering in April, 2026. Exact date to be announced. An electronic message board will also be available on Legacy for posting comments and blessings. We are heartbroken and ask for privacy and prayers during this time.
