James "Alex" Carroll

James A. Carroll, better known as Alex, was born on January 12, 1958, and passed away on December 12, 2025.
Alex was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School, Class of 1976. It was there that he met the love of his life, Tamela Chapman Carroll, known to all as Tami. There love story began in high school and lasted throughout 37 years of marriage, spent together in Oak Ridge building a life filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion. Tami preceded Alex in death in 2018, and he never stopped loving her.
Alex spent most of his career in radio advertising, where he truly shined as a natural-born salesman. His gift for conversation, and connecting with people made him unforgettable in both his professional and personal life. His love of music extended beyond listening-Alex especially cherished his time doing sound for the popular local band Boys Night Out, memories he often spoke of with great joy.
An avid golfer until he was no longer able, Alex enjoyed the game and, just as much, talking about it with friends and family. He was known for his wonderful personality, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor. Those who knew him will always remember his laugh.
Family meant everything to Alex. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Carroll; his mother Nancy W. Carroll; his sister, Martha Bridges; his wife, Tami Carroll; his father-in-law, John M. Chapman; and his mother-in-law, Cindy E. Chapman.
Those who remain to cherish his memory and will miss him deeply include his sister, Cathy Freels (Doug); his good friend and brother-in-law, John M. Chapman; his sisters-in-law, Chery Vesser, Linda Brackins (Mark), and Leslie Woodall (Jeff); along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family who loved Alex dearly.
The family invites you to join them at Weatherford Mortuary on January 8, 2026 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm for a receiving of friends.
In lieu of fowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alex's memory to the food pantry at Brysonn's Closet, located at 350 N. Illinois Ave, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or to a Parkinson's disease nonprofit in your local area.
