James Edward "Jim" Carter, 70 of Buckingham County passed away on. Saturday, January 4, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1954 in Nelson County, VA. to Hallie C. and Clifford A. Carter, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his father, his brothers Clifford Jr, Lee and Frank Carter and his son Jonathan Matthew Carter.
He is survived by his wife Brenda of 49 years, his daughter Meagan Gilliam (J.T.), his son Adam Carter (Ashley) and his daughter Ashley Carter (Jay). Jim had seven grandchildren Ben, Luke and Anne Kate Gilliam, Jake, Ryland, and Isaac Carter, and Everleigh Pierce. He is also survived by his mother Hallie Carter, sisters Pat Robertson, Betty Peterson (Charlie) and Cindy Fagen (Tom), brothers Paul Carter (Cindy) and Mike Carter and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jim worked all of his life in the logging business first with Carter's Logging and later DNA Logging. He also enjoyed hauling loads in his dump truck and working at his sawmill. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren, working in his garden and just riding around.
Family visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 6-8pm at Dunkum Funeral Home. Services will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Friday, January 10 at 2:00pm with interment in the cemetery.
