James Leroy Carter Sr., born on April 1, 1948, in Maryland, left this world on December 27, 2025, at his home where he slipped into eternal rest.

A devoted family man and a seasoned professional, he worked hard as a heavy machinery mechanic and operator, earning the respect of his peers through his dedication and skill. James received his education through the St. Mary's Public School system, laying the foundation for a life characterized by perseverance and passion.

James was known for his vibrant personality; he was a hip shooter who "told it like it is." This candid approach to life endeared him to many, making him a cherished friend and confidant. He had a love for motorcycles and enjoyed working on cars, taking immense joy in the thrill that both hobbies provided. A true gentleman, he was also known as a ladies' man and had a collection of collectibles that reflected his eclectic tastes and interests.

In his passing, he is survived by his children, James Leroy (Jessica) Carter Jr. and James Ray Andrew Carter. He also leaves behind his beloved siblings: Ernest (Martha Jane) Carter, Roland (Carolyn) Carter, Dan Carter, Ann Berry, Grace (Aloysius) Tyer, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

He is predeceased by his wife, Sylvia Carter, and his parents, Joseph I. Carter and Catherine Carter, siblings, Virgina Brown, and Lucy Lawrence, Joseph F Carter, and Thomas X. Carter.

As we remember James Leroy Carter Sr., we celebrate a life lived with authenticity, dedication, and a spirit that touched many. A memorial gathering will be held in his honor on January 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Gospel Tabernacle of Prayer in Clements, MD. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
