James Case Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc. - Pike Creek on Mar. 15, 2026.
James J. Case, 78, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 12, 2026.

Born on April 2, 1947, Jim was the son of John Case and Regina (nee Mischler) Case. He was a proud graduate of Salesianum School and a proud Marine, honorably serving in the United States Marine Corps.

After his military service, Jim enjoyed a successful career as a car salesman, known for his honesty and dedication to his customers.

Jim was patriotic, a huge fan of the New York Yankees, loved riding his Harley Davidson, and was a devout Catholic and devoted parishioner of St. Matthew's Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jackie Case (nee Borkowski), with whom he shared many loving years of marriage. They were married on February 1, 1969 and built a life together devoted to each other and their family.

He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Ferguson (Matt), Melanie Klosiewicz (Tommy), and Marybeth Case (Pat); his grandchildren, Sal, JJ, Ryan, Sarah, Thomas, Rylee, James, John, Reagan, and Leah; his siblings, Kathy Kaufhold (Bill), Diana Cropper, and Bryan Case (Lisa); and many other family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, March 19th, 2026 from 10AM-11:30AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 901 E. Newport Pk., Wilmington, DE 19804, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Jim's name to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713, https://littlesistersofthepoordelaware.org
