Charles Redstone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc. - Pike Creek on Mar. 13, 2026.
Charles M. "Chuck" Redstone, 74, of Middletown, Delaware passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 13, 1952, Chuck lived a life defined by unwavering faith, deep devotion to family, a remarkable work ethic, and a quick wit that could brighten any room.

He was the beloved husband of Leanne (Hawkes) Redstone, with whom he shared a life rooted in love, family, and strong Catholic faith. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Catherine (Kleber) Redstone, and his brother, Al Redstone. He is survived by his brothers, James Redstone and William Redstone; his children, Jenna L. Mazzarelli (Daniel), Charles M. Redstone II (Amanda), Emmalee S. Lawrence (Mark), and Kathryn M. Waring (Derek); his treasured grandchildren, Edward L. Pacheco Jr. (Kearstin), Benjamin C. Pacheco (Katelyn), Zachary D. Pacheco, Christopher S. Buskell, Sophia C. Redstone, Madeline G. Bowen, Tesa K. Lawrence, Charlee M. Waring, Trace S. Lawrence, and Carter H. Waring; and his great-grandson, Bennett J. Pacheco.

A proud graduate of Salesianum School, Chuck built a career marked by dedication and versatility, spending many years working in the long-term care insurance industry through multiple facets of the profession-from owning his own agency to later retiring from New York Life Insurance Company in 2017 as the first individual promoted to LTC Senior Sales Director. Even retirement did not slow him down for long; he continued working in different fields, building friendships everywhere he went and leaving lasting impressions on the people he met. Chuck was especially proud of his years of involvement with Boy Scouts of America alongside his son, reflecting his dependable nature, servant heart, and ability to lead by example.

Known by many as simply the world's greatest Pop, Chuck's greatest joy was his family. He spoke often and proudly of his children and especially his grandchildren, whose lives he followed closely and celebrated wholeheartedly. He selflessly showed up for the people he loved-you could always count on Chuck to be present, to lend a hand, to offer support, and to make sure the people around him felt cared for. A man of strong faith and quiet strength, Chuck was always thinking of others and ways to give back. He had a sharp sense of humor, an unforgettable laugh, and a quick wit that made every gathering better. He loved swimming with his grandchildren, caring for his lawn, being outdoors, and finding peace in nature-especially on a good hike on the Falls Trails at Ricketts Glen State Park. He also treasured traveling with his wife, cruising, exploring wine country together and visiting Saint Thomas, where Magens Bay held a special place in his heart. He took pride in hard work, simple joys, and making meaningful connections wherever he went. He was deeply loved, widely respected, and the kind of man whose presence made people feel steadier just by being near him.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark on Friday, March 20 from 10:00 – 11:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM. Interment will take place at Cathedral Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life to follow at Fournier Hall, both in Wilmington, Delaware.

Chuck's life was a quiet example of faithfulness, generosity, humor, and love in action. He will be deeply missed, forever talked about, and always remembered.
