Barbara Ward Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home - Middletown on Mar. 16, 2026.
Barbara "Barb" (Howe) Ward passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Barb was the beloved wife of Austin "Buck" Ward, with whom she shared 39 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life centered around family, laughter, and caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Harold Howe; her son, David; and her brother, Phil Howe.

Barb was a devoted mother and stepmother to Renee Kandravi (Rob), Tina Stone (Mark), Amy Ledoux, Elaine Read, and Debbie Lloyd.

She was a proud grandmother to RJ Kandravi (Heather), Samantha Shick (Brian), Staci Whitt (Alex), Justin Stone, Katlyn MacDonald, Lexi Ledoux, Rebecca Read (John), Ricky Read (Kelley), and BJ Lloyd. She was also blessed with 12 cherished great-grandchildren: Isla, Ava, Harper, Olivia, Charlotte, Lilly, Sophia, Cam, Chase, JJ, Madelyn, and Emma.

Barb was known for her creativity and generosity. An avid quilter and talented seamstress, she lovingly made handmade gifts for family and friends, each stitch reflecting the care she had for those she loved. She was a devoted fan of Kansas State football and basketball and rarely missed a game.

More than anything, Barb treasured time with her family. She loved playing games, gathering loved ones together, and hosting memorable holiday celebrations. Her home was always open, warm, and full of laughter.

Barb touched the lives of countless people across many states, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and deep love for family. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 12pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709. Friends may visit from 11 am – 12pm. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
