Hedley Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home - Middletown on Mar. 12, 2026.
Hedley Combs Davis passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on January 26, 1958, he was an enthusiastic supporter of his hometown, Middletown, DE. He graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware. Through his career, he worked for tech innovators like Commodore, where he met his wife, Michele, and then moved to the Bay Area to work on the Xbox and Xbox 360 at Microsoft.

After the death of his mother, Ellen Combs Davis, Hedley returned with his family to Middletown to raise his children, Rachel and Zachary Davis. He loved Looney Toons, flying his Pitts airplane, camping with family, and making as many cool blinky lights as possible.

He retired at 65 and began teaching Advanced Printed Circuit Board Design at the University of Delaware. He was most proud of his art piece Alien Semaphore, which he displayed at Burning Man in 2004, third place at the 2013 World Championship Punkin' Chunkin' in the youth 11-17 Trebuchet division with his son Zachary, and his UD Electrical and Computer Engineering Distinguished Achievement Award, which he received in 2023.

His celebration of life will be on April 3, 2026, starting at noon at the Everett Theatre. Hedley had a very vibrant personality, so the family requests that you dress colorful, tie-dye shirts, jeans, or any Burning Man attire. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Everett Theater.
