James William Chambers II

James William Chambers II, 82, formerly of Rittman and Riviera Beach, FL, and more recently of Wooster, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026. He was born on May 14, 1943, in Lodi, Ohio, to the late James W. and Evelyn (Wright) Chambers.
A devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Mr. Chambers lived a life defined by service, integrity, and commitment to his community. He built a distinguished career in law enforcement, retiring at the age of 71. His service began as a police officer for the City of Rittman, followed by his work as a deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He later served as a police officer in Marshallville and went on to become Chief of Police in Smithville. After relocating to Florida, he continued his dedication to public safety as a member of the Palm Beach Sheriff's Department.
Upon returning to Ohio, Jim worked for Zollinger Sand and Gravel before serving as Head of Security for Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital and Barberton Citizens Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice, who passed on August 2, 2013, sister, Brenda (Chambers) Zollinger; and his daughter-in-law, Anita Chambers.
Jim leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his wife, Margaret; his sons, James W. Chambers III and Mark A. (Joy) Chambers; his daughter, Dichelle L. Chambers; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his stepson, Michael (Elizabeth) Benchoff.
A Home Going Celebration will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7605 E. Pleasant Home Rd., Sterling, Ohio.
