James Chauvin Obituary

James "Jimmy" "T'myo" Chauvin, 84, a native of Cocodrie, Louisiana and resident of Houma, Louisiana passed away on October 2, 2025. Services will be announced at a later date. He is survived by his sons, Amos Chauvin (Katina),Corey Chauvin (Alan); daughters, Cindy Parfait (McGill), Monique Santiago (Angel);Sister, Diane Authement; brother, Lawrence Chauvin Jr (Barbara); grandchildren, Maranda P Thomas, Quentin Pierron (Alaina), Alyssa Chauvin, Angelique Santiago,Angel Santiago II, and Chelsea Tanner; Great-Grandchildren, Markus, Mariah, Zeke, Micah, Jovi Jr, Tripp, Rhylee, Kinslee and Khai. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Smith Chauvin; parents, Lawrence and Angel Chauvin, son, Jimmy Jr; brother-in-law Dale Authement; son-in-law, Mark Pierron; grandson-in-law, Quentin Thomas. James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He owned Chauvin Marnia in Cocodrie for many of years. In the 80s and 90s he was known as the " Mayor of Cocodrie". James also worked for Texaco and was a commercial fisherman. He was the life of the party on the dance floor and had a love for music. The family would like to thank Acadiana Hospice and Legacy Nursing Facility in Franklin for there love and support during this difficult time.
