James Cody Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 24, 2025.

James Edmon Cody, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at his home in Gladwin, Michigan. Born on February 22, 1972, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Bonnie (Holvey) Cody and the late Roy Cody, James's infectious laughter and generous spirit brightened the lives of all who knew him.
James's life was a testament to his dedication to his family and his craft. He worked diligently at Loose Plastics and Dow, where he honed his skills and learned the intricacies of locomotive mechanics. His expertise extended beyond his professional life, as he was the family's go-to handyman, always willing to lend a hand or a tool to fix whatever was broken.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as working on cars, which was more than just a hobby for him – it was a way to connect with friends and loved ones, sharing his knowledge and passion. James was also known for his love of the outdoors, often going camping with his family, creating lasting memories surrounded by nature. And at the end of a long day, he could frequently be found dozing off in his chair, with the TV quietly playing in the background, a picture of contentment.
James's sense of humor was unparalleled. He had the rare ability to find humor in everyday situations, and his laughter was contagious. He was the life of any gathering, and his friendly demeanor made him loved by many. His kindness extended beyond his circle, as he was always ready to help anyone in need, friend or stranger alike.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra, and their children, Andrew (Mariah), Jordan, Katlynn (Forest), James 2nd, and Tyler (Rachel). James was a doting grandfather to Kayden, Sierra, Lakelynn, Cloe, Bentley, Brennley, and Braylon who will miss his playful nature and bear hugs. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Bonnie, his sister Lisa, and his brothers, Jason, John, Runner (Roy), Joe, and Leslie. His legacy will live on through his numerous nieces and nephews: Glen Jr, Jack, Jenny, Mack, Harley, Johnny, TJ, Little John, Leah, Jasmine, Sophia, Dylan, Gavin, Marcus, Brady, Justin, and Lilly Jo.
Preceded in death by his father, Roy, and his daughter, Angel Marie, James leaves behind a family who cherished every moment with him. His absence will be felt deeply, but the memories he created will continue to provide comfort and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
