James Edward Collier

James Edward Collier passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center-Saginaw. Age 84 years. James was born April 2, 1941, to Samuel G. and Elsie A. Collier.

James was in Michigan taking care of his mother, Elsie, who passed away on March 5, 2025. James was a 24-year Veteran of the United States Navy. James was a member of Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church in Hitchcock Texas under the leadership of Dr. William Randall. He served diligently in the Brotherhood Ministry before moving to Saginaw. For the past year, he attended Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in Saginaw, under the leadership of Pastor Robert Davis.

James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Yoneda Sanders-Collier; one son, Jaris (Monica) Collier; stepsons, Johnny (Keisha), and Ahmad Rabb. three daughters, Kanika (Michael) Nelson, Lynn Denise Collier, and Cheryl Collier; stepdaughter, Ayesha Rabb; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren

James was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Collier and Elsie Collier-McDaniels; stepfather William McDaniels; brothers, William, Paul, and Samuel Collier; sister, Helen L. Collier; and stepson, Durry McZeal.

The family wishes to express special thanks to all our family and friends.

Burial will be scheduled at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery
