James Ernest Collins, born on April 11, 1951, in Manchester, Kentucky, departed this life on March 7, 2026, in Indianapolis. He lived a life dedicated to enriching the lives of those around him. James worked as a semi-truck driver for over 40 years, showcasing his unwavering commitment and strong work ethic throughout his career.

James was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his warm and friendly personality. He never met a stranger and was always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the spirit of generosity by being willing to give someone the shirt off his back. He had a special talent for bringing people together, ensuring that family gatherings overflowed with fun and laughter. One of his favorite expressions, “Boy, Howdy!” highlighted his exuberant approach to life.

James held a deep passion for outdoor activities, particularly fishing. He cherished moments spent at lakes and rivers, most notably during a memorable seven-day houseboat trip with his family to Dale Hollow Lake on the Kentucky/Tennessee border, where he fondly recalled catching many fish. Furthermore, his enthusiasm extended to stock car racing, being a proud member of the Rodney Sizemore Racing Team at the Indianapolis Speedrome.

In addition to his plentiful hobbies, James served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, a testament to his dedication and sense of duty.

He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories, particularly among his family. James is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Linda Collins; his children, James (Hope) Collins, Christina (Brad) Milledge, Chelsea (Greg) Kline, Sarah Collins, Robert (Stephanie) Russell, and Heather (Brian) Jones; his grandchildren, Cortney Milledge, Haley Milledge, Ashlee Collins, Landon Collins, Carly Kline, Ryker Kline, Lydia Kline, Taylor Russell, Lindsey (Jacob) Brock, Lexus (Brandon) Hall, Leigh (Brayton) Lake, and Aubrey Russell; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Helen Adler, Kathy Collins, and Elmer (Frankie) Collins.

James was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Collins; his mother, Ellen (Lawson) Collins; and his siblings, Faye (Ralph) Milkea, Pearle Baker, and Larry Collins.
