Services for James Richard Coons, 85 of Winnsboro will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Tx with Rev. Dean Remmers and Bishop George Dickens officiating.
Burial will be at Harmony Cemetery in Hopkins County.
Mr. Coons passed to his eternal home on Thursday, September 4, 2025. He was born in Trimble County Kentucky to George L. Coons (Jack) and Edith M. Perkinson Coons on January 18, 1940, both his parents have preceded him in death. He was married to Saundra Jean (Jeannie) Steele on June 7, 1959 for 35 years. The remarried on April 13, 1997 until she preceded him in death in December 2006. Mr. Coons was a Union Carpenter for several years as well as working as co-owner to RC Construction Co. for a few years.
Mr. Coons was preceded in death by both parents, George and Edith Coons of Kentucky, his wife, Saundra Coons of Winnsboro, a daughter, Dori Coons Barrios of Mt. Vernon, a sister Beverly Medeiros of Kentucky, a brother Kenneth Coons of Kentucky and a grandson Thomas Shane Quinn of Como and 2 great-grandsons, Cade Coons and baby boy Wooten.
Mr. Coons is survived by his five remaining children, Donald R. Coons and wife Manon of Missouri City, Debra L. Quinn and husband Thomas of Winnsboro, Deanna L. Wooten and husband Anthony of Waxahachie, Donna Meyer of Como, and Dena Mayo and husband Corey of West. 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a brother, Jerry Coons and wife Judy and a sister Janice Allen all of Kentucky and numerous nieces and nephews.
