James W. "Jim" Covington, 86, died October 30, 2024. Born December 31, 1937, he was a native of Tenaha, TX and resident of St. Petersburg, FL. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 9:00 AM until service time at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM with a private burial following at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his sons, James "Bubba" Covington(Maggie) and Jon Covington(Wendy); daughters, Jami Chadwick, Jennifer Masterson(David); grandchildren, Collin Covington, Ella Covington, Isaiah Covington, Carson Covington, Anna Chadwick, Amelie Chadwick, Christopher Masterson, Jack Masterson, Camille Masterson; step grandchildren, Emma Bunn(Bryan), Jacques Chauvin, Julie Chauvin; and step great grandchildren, Nathaniel Bunn, and Eloise Bunn.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Bourg Covington, his parents, Alton Covington, Sr. and Ima Jean (Hairgrove) Covington; brother, Alton "Jacky" Covington, Jr.; and granddaughter, Emma Leigh Covington.

The family would like to thank the staff of Elance at Pasadena Rehabilitation Hospital and Suncoast Hospice Care for their support and care during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
