James (Jim) W. Cunningham, 83, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away on September 12, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida.
Jim “Skeet” was born on July 4, 1942, in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1960 and soon after entered the United States Air Force, where he served with honor for four years. During his service, he was stationed in England, an experience that broadened his horizons and deepened his love of travel and service.
Upon returning to the United States, Jim pursued higher education at the University of Alabama, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1968. Following graduation, he began his professional career with Monsanto Chemical Company, where he worked as an accountant. He later joined Ciba-Geigy as a pharmaceutical sales representative, a role in which he built strong relationships and earned respect for his dedication and professionalism.
In the years that followed, Jim and his wife, Margaret — to whom he was devoted for 63 years — moved to Florida with their three children: Tappie, Scott, and Andrew. Together, Jim and Margaret became co-owners of Speedy Stamp Engraving in Gulf Breeze, a family business they built with pride and commitment, serving their community for many years.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Charles; his mother, Helen; his brother, Turk; and his sister-in-law, Rose.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his daughter, Tappie, and her husband, Paul, of Gulf Breeze, along with their daughter, Kaycee and her fiancé Blake Olson; his son, Scott, and his wife, Caroline, from the UK, and their daughter, Isabelle; and also his son, Andrew, in Hong Kong, and his three children — Sam, Gabe, and Cody. He is also survived by their beloved pug, Molly.
Beyond his professional accomplishments and service, Jim will be remembered as a man of warmth, humor, and integrity. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He approached life with generosity, humility, and a steady presence that enriched the lives of those around him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Gulf Breeze on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with Pastor Robert Pooley officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to wear their favorite college football attire.
