James (Jim) Michael Cylkowski passed away early Saturday morning, April 20, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Jim was born in St. Paul, MN to Anthony and Veronica (Marshall) Cylkowski on July 7, 1949. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Harding High, graduating in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Army after graduation and served his country from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War.
After returning from service, he met Alberta (Alby) Riegert. Jim and Alby married on January 29, 1971 at St. Pius V in Cannon Falls. He graduated from Red Wing Community College with a degree in Ag Banking in 1975. He started his career at First National Bank in Hastings. In 1978, he became vice president at Security State Bank in Cannon Falls. In 1982, he became president of White Rock Bank.
Jim started working at St. Pius Church in 1989 and also worked at Lundberg Funeral Home. He retired in 2012.
Jim and Alby had 2 children: Chad (Melanie) Cylkowski and Emily (Chris) Spicer. Jim had 3 grandchildren who he was so incredibly proud of: Anthony and Anna Cylkowski and Joel Spicer. Being a grandpa meant everything to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and his brother Ron Cylkowski.
Jim loved to play golf and cards. He enjoyed cooking in his younger years. He attended every event possible for his kids and grandkids. Being a grandpa brought him great joy.
Jim will be greatly missed by many. Memorial contributions may be given to the Cannon Falls Food Shelf.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 Colvill St. W, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. Interment with military honors will be in St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery. The memorial service will be live streamed and may be viewed by clicking the link below.
