James Robert Davis (Jimmy) was born in Choudrant, LA, September 26,1937 to John and Lois Davis. He left this earth on September 18, 2025, to return to his Heavenly home and be reunited with his wife, Mavis. He passed away in his home surrounded by people who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Davis, parents, John and Lois Davis, his brother John Edward Davis (Johnny) and his sister Myrtis Morgan.

He is survived by his son, John Davis (wife Amanda); daughter, Lois Davis and daughter Mary Davis Trumbetta (husband Jason). Six grandchildren, Charlie Davis, Elizabeth Davis, Hagen Davis, Riley Davis, Wyatt Trumbetta and Easton Trumbetta. Sister, Myra McGraw (husband Roger) and Brother, Jerry Davis (wife Paulette). And a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jimmy Davis was a simple man who loved his family. He was a very quiet man until he got to know you. He was a strong believer in faith and family. He read his Bible every night until his health prevented it. He worked as a Grounds Manager for Presbytery of the Pines for 30 years at Camp Alabama in Choudrant. He also ran Camp of the Pines in Arkadelphia, Arkansas in the summers and transported kids back and forth to the camp. He somehow kept his sanity transporting 12 preteens and teenagers every week.

Jimmy met his wife in Ruston, LA and they were married for 61 years. He loved her dearly. He was the calm to her excitement. He was the quiet to her talkative. We had a host of people stay with us throughout the years that Mom brought in. Daddy always welcomed them and never turned anyone away. He always said, "Everybody will eat, and we will eat till it is gone. Nobody goes hungry in my house".

Jimmy didn't just read the Bible; he lived by its principles. He had a garden for years and shared with people that needed it. He spent much of his life checking up on the elderly people in our community. If you needed something fixed with your house, he was the man to call. He spent countless hours of his free time helping those that didn't have the funds to pay him. He was a carpenter, electrician and plumber all rolled into one. When he wasn't busy with work or helping people, he and Momma enjoyed visiting friends. He loved a good game of Rook and the conversations that came with it.

Special thanks to all his sitters as well. Tammie Morgan went above and beyond to help Daddy stay in his house till he passed. Also want to thank Veronica Hayes, Melissa Thomas, Lynette Boyd, Romecia Reed and Vonika Reed. And a special thanks to Allegiance Homehealth, Centerwell Homehealth and Caring Hands Hospice for all they did for him.

Donations can be made to International Fellowship of Jews and Christians and Med Camps of Louisiana in his honor.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Alabama Presbyterian Church in Choudrant, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Lamar Hancock and Rev. David Buckley. Interment will follow in Sibley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Ruston, LA.
